Abstract

This study examines the perspective of Felix Siauw on the concept of religious moderation, particularly religious tolerance, as conveyed through his da’wah content on YouTube. In the context of Indonesia as a multicultural and multi-religious country, issues of interfaith tolerance remain a sensitive and crucial social concern. Along with the rapid development of digital media, YouTube has become an important platform for contemporary Islamic da’wah, enabling preachers to disseminate religious messages widely and interactively. However, previous studies tend to focus on religious moderation from a policy or sociological perspective, while limited attention has been given to how tolerance is framed within digital da’wah communication.This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach using da’wah communication theory as its analytical framework. Data were collected through systematic observation, documentation of three selected YouTube videos by Felix Siauw, and library research. The study focuses on analyzing da’wah messages, methods, media use, audience segmentation, and the effects of da’wah related to religious tolerance.The findings reveal that Felix Siauw consistently presents tolerance as a social attitude that promotes peaceful coexistence and respectful interaction with people of other faiths, while firmly maintaining Islamic theological boundaries. Tolerance is framed as social openness without compromising Islamic creed (aqidah). His da’wah communication utilizes persuasive, contextual, and dialogical methods, supported by personal experiences and analogies that make complex religious concepts accessible to a broad audience.The study implies that digital da’wah can play a strategic role in shaping balanced religious understanding by combining firmness in belief with social harmony. In conclusion, Felix Siauw’s da’wah contributes a distinctive model of religious moderation through digital communication, emphasizing principled tolerance within a pluralistic society.
