Manuscript Review Criteria

  • Presentation
    • Does the article present a cohesive and logical argument?
    • Are the ideas clearly structured and communicated?
  • Writing
    • Does the title accurately reflect the content of the manuscript?
    • Is the writing concise, coherent, and easy to follow?
  • Length
    • Which sections of the manuscript need to be expanded, removed, condensed, summarized, or combined?
  • Title
    • Is the title concise, free of implicit or redundant terms?
    • Is it stated as the main result or conclusion of the manuscript?
    • Are abbreviations avoided?
  • Abstract
    • Does the abstract clearly include:
      • the aim of the study,
      • the method used,
      • the main findings or results, and
      • the conclusion?
  • Introduction
    • Does the introduction provide a clear and systematic explanation of the following:
      • Background of the study
      • State of the art and relevant previous research
      • Gap analysis and novelty statement
      • Hypothesis or problem statement (optional)
      • Research approach or strategy
      • The aim of the study
  • Method
    • Is the method section written clearly enough to allow replication?
    • Does it describe how the research was conducted?
    • Does it include the research location, participants, instruments, and data analysis?
  • Results and Discussion
    • Are the data presented in tables or figures with explanatory captions?
    • Are the results related to the research objectives?
    • Are findings compared with previous studies?
    • Is scientific interpretation provided?
    • Are implications of the findings explained?
    • Are research limitations discussed?
    • Are areas for further research suggested?
  • Conclusion
    • Does it answer the research objectives?
    • Does it offer implications or recommendations (optional)?
    • Is it written in paragraph form (not bullet points)?
  • References
    • Is a reference manager used (e.g., Mendeley, Zotero, EndNote)?
    • Are most references published within the last 10 years?
    • Are at least 80% from peer-reviewed scientific journals?
