Strategi Guru PAI dalam Meningkatkan Nilai-nilai Karakter Religius dalam Kegiatan Sholat Dhuha di SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Bandar Mataram

Religious character education is a fundamental aspect of moral and spiritual development among students, particularly in the context of formal schooling. This study aims to examine the strategies employed by Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers in strengthening students’ religious character through the implementation of Dhuha prayer activities at SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Bandar Mataram. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through direct observation, in-depth interviews with PAI teachers and students, and documentation of school religious programs. The findings reveal that Dhuha prayer activities, when implemented in a structured and consistent manner, function not only as sunnah worship but also as an effective medium for internalizing religious character values. The strategies applied by PAI teachers include exemplary conduct (uswah hasanah), habituation of worship practices, and continuous reinforcement of religious values. These strategies contribute to the development of key religious character traits such as discipline, responsibility, and obedience among students. The study further indicates that the internalization of these values extends beyond ritual practices and positively influences students’ daily behavior in the school environment. This research highlights the strategic role of PAI teachers in integrating worship-based activities into character education and underscores the importance of planned religious habituation in fostering sustainable religious character development in schools.
